You
Courtney (00:40.313)
Let's embark on the brewery adventure together! Cheers! We did it!
Tim (00:43.31)
Cheers! Well, we did it. There's a little flub there by me, but that's okay. You know what? We're not professionals. We don't claim to be, right?
Courtney (00:52.385)
Exactly, we are not professionals. Nope.
Tim (00:54.306)
Yeah, we're not professional beer reviewers and also not professional podcasters, but we are here to have some fun and talk about beer and breweries. And this, this episode, which is episode six, we are talking about wandering leaf brewing.
Courtney (00:59.542)
Absolutely not.
Courtney (01:12.835)
Wandering Leaf in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Tim (01:14.968)
Yeah, it's in St. Paul and West 7th, as I always say, look it up on your Google machine. You'll be able to find it. It'll take you right there. That's how I do it.
Courtney (01:24.345)
That's a good way to go.
Tim (01:26.582)
Yeah. And so Courtney, before we jump into talking about Wandering Leaf and other things, let's pop open our beers as we usually do.
Courtney (01:35.725)
Yes, because I'm staring at mine and all I want to do right now is open it.
Tim (01:38.536)
I am too, and you were nice enough to go to the brewery again, which I know was a huge sacrifice for you to have to go back again, and pick up beer for us so that we can have beer from the brewery while we talk about it. And you brought me a wide selection of beers, many of which I didn't remember even seeing on their board when we were there. And maybe they did, they do have a long list of beers. So maybe they were all there and I just missed them, or maybe these were ones they canned and.
Courtney (01:43.081)
gosh, that was so hard. Yeah.
Courtney (01:57.272)
I did.
Tim (02:08.514)
weren't on tap at the time? I don't know.
Courtney (02:11.609)
I've been there three times now and I feel like I've sampled mostly everything, but there were cans with beer names I did not recognize.
Tim (02:16.557)
Yeah.
Right. And so you bought me a variety of beers and I ended up choosing one that I actually did have while we were at the brewery called Feral Female. It's an English porter.
Courtney (02:25.863)
Hahaha
Courtney (02:31.223)
I've had that one, think, well, almost every time I've been there now, and I love it.
Tim (02:36.374)
Yeah, when we were there that last time my wife had this one too and I think that's all she drank that night. She had a couple of them because she liked it so much. So I'm going to pop this one open.
Courtney (02:41.687)
Yes. Yeah.
Tim (02:46.382)
not bad, not bad. See if I can get a poor sound.
Courtney (02:49.516)
Nice.
Tim (02:56.366)
Okay, what beer are you drinking tonight, Courtney?
Courtney (03:01.065)
I went with coffee with a shot of cynicism. What's a coffee cult? I just really like the name and I don't think I had this there before. So this will be a new to me beer. Let's see if I get my microphone down here. All right.
Tim (03:06.048)
Okay.
Hmm.
Tim (03:18.872)
So we bolt with Wolf and kind of darker ones maybe.
Courtney (03:22.115)
Hopefully.
Tim (03:26.466)
Alright, nice.
Courtney (03:27.927)
I don't have, I'm not fancy enough to have a glass to pour this into. I'm just, I'm candid.
Tim (03:30.71)
That's okay. Right out of the can is just fine. Just fine. Give it a taste.
Courtney (03:38.451)
that's good coffee flavor.
Tim (03:39.904)
I mean, I guess it is a colch. It's not necessarily a, it's not a darker beer. It's probably light in color. We would be my guess. That's okay. You don't, you know, just, just spit it out. Just spit it out in front of you. It'll be fine.
Courtney (03:46.189)
I don't have a glass or anything to pour this into to check it out.
I'm just looking into the can like, can I see it? No. I'm not wasting beer like that.
Tim (03:58.542)
No, no, no. Yeah, that's a good plan. Yeah. No, this is real. This for female is really good. I remember liking it at the brewery and this is good out of the can as well. It's a little foamy when I poured it in my glass.
Courtney (04:11.179)
Nice. Good color. Not that anyone else can see it but me, but good color.
Tim (04:15.188)
No one else can see it but you, but yeah, it is a, it's a darker beer and it's, it's wonderful. It's really right up my alley as far as style goes. I do love a nice dark beer.
Courtney (04:26.975)
If I remember, theirs was just smooth and cozy. Yes.
Tim (04:30.538)
smooth and creamy I would call it. mean it's know it's creamy it's really good. So Wandering Leaf Brewing in St. Paul. We have been there a few times. You've been there more times than I have now. I think I've only been there twice and you've been there maybe three times right? Yeah wonderful and you were there the other night just to pick up beer and you ended up just hanging out.
Courtney (04:44.493)
Yes.
Courtney (04:48.503)
I went there three times.
Courtney (04:54.893)
I went to get beer and I thought I'm gonna have a beer because I'm there. It seems like the right thing to do. So I sat at the bar, I read my Kindle for a little bit, ended up talking to a bunch of people and just had a, like, I was there a lot longer than I thought I was gonna be, but had a great night.
Tim (05:00.012)
Yes.
Tim (05:12.642)
Yeah, that's cool. Well, before we get too deep into talking about wandering leaf, which we have enjoyed so much, you recently went on a trip in a previous episode. talked about my trip to Colorado and visiting some breweries there. Where did you recently go?
Courtney (05:31.337)
I spent the weekend in Arkansas. Yes. I went to Bentonville, Arkansas, which some people recognize that name because it is the home of Walmart. It is also the mountain biking capital of the world, which it seems like a, it still seems like a weird location for that, but they have so much biking, mountain biking infrastructure in that city. It's incredible.
Tim (05:35.51)
in Arkansas.
Tim (05:42.986)
okay.
Sure, yep.
Tim (05:50.295)
Really?
Tim (06:00.162)
Well, I mean, it is a gorgeous and people, maybe some people don't think of Arkansas as a gorgeous state, but I have been through Arkansas and that Northwest corner of Arkansas is some of the prettiest country I've been in. Yeah. It is really amazing there. It's, it's not like huge mountains. You're not in, you know, but it's, but it's very hilly. Yeah. And, very, it's, yeah, it's beautiful. I really have loved it. I've passed through there a few times and I've loved it every time I've been there.
Courtney (06:11.767)
It's amazing.
Courtney (06:17.986)
No.
Yes.
Courtney (06:29.837)
Walmart has invested a lot in that city to make it a great place for their employees to live. So the city is adorable. There's great food. There's obviously great biking, great breweries. There's a couple of them. I think there's three and I got to go to two of them.
Tim (06:35.629)
Sure.
Tim (06:47.97)
Very good, very good. Well I assume since it was the mountain biking capital of the world that you did a lot of mountain biking while you were...
Courtney (06:54.649)
No.
I did not.
Tim (06:58.19)
You went for a mountain biking gathering of some sort, right?
Courtney (07:02.699)
It was a bike and music festival.
Tim (07:05.588)
Okay, so you did no biking at the Bike and Music Festival. Did you do any music at the Bike and Music Festival? Okay, well you got one that's one out of two, so pretty good.
Courtney (07:08.493)
I did know Viking at the Viking Music Festival.
Yes. Yeah.
And the music was great. There was a concert with a bunch of bands back to back and stepmom, Wilderado, indoors, thankfully. It was a little chilly.
Tim (07:22.048)
cool. Outdoors? Okay. All right. Very cool. Yeah, it sounds like a great time. So tell me about these breweries that you went to.
Courtney (07:34.467)
So the first one I went to was Bike Rack Brewing, and they had a great name and it was a cute little location that was very close to kind of like the epicenter of all the festival things that were happening. Very close to that. So hopped over there and had a flight after checking in and getting all that stuff taken care of when I got there. like a smallish brewery, not super, super big inside, but it was
Tim (07:38.818)
Great name. Yeah.
Tim (07:47.821)
Mm-hmm.
Tim (07:56.387)
Mm-hmm.
Courtney (08:02.997)
It was packed full of people. It was bustling in there.
Tim (08:07.894)
I assume full bike racks outside.
Courtney (08:10.861)
There were some empty bike racks outside.
Tim (08:12.846)
No, no for a bike festival. Nobody's doing any biking.
Courtney (08:18.777)
Other people did lots of biking, just not me and apparently not people that showed up at the brewery.
Tim (08:21.735)
Okay. All right. All right. They did have bike racks though, right? Tell me they did. Okay. Good.
Courtney (08:28.343)
Yes, they had really, really cute like rainbowy color bike racks.
Tim (08:33.121)
very cool. think I remember you posted a picture on the Instagram feed if I remember correctly. Yeah.
Courtney (08:36.823)
I did. They had it. It's a very cool building. That's just like gray, black and white with their logo is black and white. And then they had these really colorful bike racks outside.
Tim (08:46.124)
And what was the best part about this brewery?
Courtney (08:50.339)
They had a couple of beers that I will remember for a while. So I got my flight. It came in a really cool flight holder that was, it was wooden and it was in the shape of Arkansas and it had their name like etched into it. was solid points for, yes. As soon as I got the holder, was like, this is gonna be awesome. But they had a carrot cake sour.
Tim (09:04.361)
very nice, yeah.
Tim (09:08.758)
I know how much you love a good flight holder. Yeah.
Tim (09:21.153)
okay.
Courtney (09:22.101)
which sounds really, really weird for a sour, but it was exceptional. And there was an oatmeal cookie amber.
Tim (09:31.012)
that does sound delicious.
Courtney (09:32.791)
Yeah, so both of them like kind of in the spicy baked good spicy side, but they were both really, really good.
Tim (09:40.472)
Wonderful. And the other brewery was what?
Courtney (09:43.597)
The other brewery was the Bentonville Brewing Company. They looked like a... Yeah. They didn't have to get creative with that one. That looked like a much bigger operation. A lot bigger building, a lot more beer options to choose from. They had their beers up on a board and they were kind of split into four columns. So they had a dark beer column, a light beer column.
Tim (09:47.471)
Okay, name they'd yeah, okay
Tim (09:56.067)
Okay.
Courtney (10:09.315)
There was one for just IPAs, and then there was one that combined their ciders and sours and that kind of stuff.
Tim (10:16.192)
and which ones did you partake of?
Courtney (10:18.487)
Well, I, we were there for the Superbowl. So we were there for a while. So I ended up going through two flights and the first one I had them pick, like, I didn't pick any of the beers. said, I need a flight and I'd like you to pick one beer from each one of those columns and put it in the flight. So they, they did a great job and put that together. It ended up being like a very colorful flight. I was very happy with it.
Tim (10:22.27)
cool.
Tim (10:37.773)
Well.
Tim (10:44.91)
Very nice.
Courtney (10:45.847)
And then I ended up going and having a second flight because they just had so many beer options and I want them all.
Tim (10:51.736)
When are you there for that long? Why not? Yeah. I mean, Superbowl wasn't all that exciting. It was kind of one sided. So, but as long as you're at a nice brewery with some friends and Hey, all great. Yeah.
Courtney (10:53.952)
Exactly.
Courtney (10:58.327)
No.
Courtney (11:04.953)
It's all great. And yeah, but they also had a couple of sours that were really good, very flavorful. the, in the second flight I had the, the girl beer tender who was there put in her favorite beer of theirs, which was the fresh ground brown ale coffee beer. So probably a similar, a little bit to what I'm drinking tonight, but it had like the most perfect balance of coffee and beer flavor. was really nice.
Tim (11:26.281)
huh.
Tim (11:33.906)
I was super excited that you got to go on a trip. Of course, anytime any of my friends go on trips, I'm sitting at home, seeing the pictures come in and it's a little bit of a wish I was there kind of stuff. But I got to spend a lot of time with my grandson, Charlie, this weekend when you were the weekend you were gone. So I got lots of pluses on this end too.
Courtney (11:38.007)
Hahaha!
Courtney (11:45.623)
Yeah.
Courtney (11:54.551)
I mean, spending time with Charlie is probably better than spending time with me.
Tim (11:58.382)
Charlie's pretty, pretty awesome. That is true. That is true. Well, let's get back to talking about wandering leaf, which, like I said before, both of us have thoroughly enjoyed. was racking my brain to think about like, what's a negative that I can talk about, about wandering leaf. I really don't have one.
Courtney (12:02.029)
That's right.
Courtney (12:07.245)
Yes.
Courtney (12:19.799)
No, it was really hard. We struggled to come up with something like anything that would be considered a negative.
Tim (12:28.67)
Yeah. Um, we have been there a couple of times. One time was for a geocaching event, as I remember. Yes, we were there for a geocaching event, which was cool. There were a lot of people there that we knew, so that was a really good time. And, um, I think I had, I think I just had a couple of pints that night. I didn't have a flight the first time I was there.
Courtney (12:37.453)
The first one was a geocaching event. Yeah.
Courtney (12:54.291)
I got there incredibly early for that event. I don't know why, but I got there very early and had a beer up at the bar. and that night I remember the beer that I got, they recommended, and it's not something I would have ordered because, it was the beetle juice, beetle juice, beetle juice. It's it's a beat. I'm going to, I'm not going to say this correctly. This is going to be terrible.
Tim (12:57.069)
Yeah.
Tim (13:17.797)
okay.
Courtney (13:23.275)
A beat saison, saison. Yeah, you know what I mean? I don't have to say it correctly. I would not normally order that beer because I don't like, I don't like beats. I don't like anything beat related.
Tim (13:25.912)
Sure. Yeah, I do.
Tim (13:37.088)
Yeah, and as I remember that beer did look like beets. It was very dark red.
Courtney (13:44.374)
It's beautiful. The color is beautiful. But they told me, they said, it's a great beer. It's not going to have a super beat flavor. There's some lemon in it that helps balance it out. So I got it. And that beer was incredible. It was awesome.
Tim (13:59.502)
I you must have liked it because you did order it again when we were there. Again, you got more of it, so you must have liked it the first time. Yeah.
Courtney (14:02.456)
I did.
Courtney (14:06.541)
Yes, super liked it. But when I was there that first time, I'm early, I sat up at the bar and ended up sitting next to one of the co-owners. So I got to sit and chat with him for a little bit. Another one of the co-owners came and sat down and got to talk to them a little bit about the brewery and how they got into it. It was Matt and Rob and they own the brewery with their wives. So it's like the four of them. Nicest guys.
Tim (14:17.506)
Wow. Okay.
Tim (14:27.352)
Mm-hmm.
Tim (14:32.567)
Okay.
Courtney (14:36.237)
They just sat and kept me company while I was waiting for everybody else to get there and it was great.
Tim (14:40.182)
Nice. It's yeah. And it's, it's, it's among the pluses of this brewery is that everybody that I've talked to that's working the bar serving beers or anybody that you interact that's out picking up glasses in the brewery or whatever, they're all just super nice, friendly people.
Courtney (14:57.421)
Yeah. They talk to you like you've been friends for years and hey, you're here.
Tim (15:00.342)
Yeah. Yeah. Which is great brewery culture, man. Great.
Courtney (15:06.649)
It's exactly what we like.
Tim (15:08.14)
Yeah. let's describe a little bit about walking up to this brewery because when you, when you pull up to it off of West seventh and St. Paul, it's not particularly impressive because it's another brewery that's in a old mini mall kind of a thing. And this mini mall, I know over the years has been lots of different things. There's been lots of different stores in it. and it's, it's kind of rehabbing itself right now.
Courtney (15:25.091)
Yes.
Tim (15:35.726)
They got the brewery, some new restaurants and things like that. So it's kind of turning over. but when you'd kind of pull in, it's not a particularly impressive place. Yeah. But.
Courtney (15:44.131)
It's not, but as soon as you walk in that door, as soon as you walk in the door, is greenery everywhere. They have plants all over the place.
Tim (15:48.75)
As soon as you walk in. Yeah.
Tim (15:55.636)
It's greenery. Yeah, which is, know, not that some breweries don't have some plants, but I mean, we don't mean some plants. We mean, like, it seems like half the space is plants in there.
Courtney (16:07.597)
Yeah. There, there are planters like long row planters that are separating out like seating spaces. They've got things hanging from the ceiling. They've got a live plant wall, that's in the back past the bar. There's, there's green everywhere, which is a great thing if you're going there in the winter.
Tim (16:14.944)
Yep. Yes.
Tim (16:21.902)
Yeah.
Tim (16:26.986)
is, it is, it does feel just so warm and cozy in there with all the greenery. And I think now, like I we have only been there this winter at when it's dark. so when I say that it's not impressive when you pull up outside, mean, it's, it's not, it's not a horrible neighborhood. It's not, you're not going to be scared to be there. It's not, it's not awful. It's just not all that impressive from the outside, but the inside is definitely impressive.
Courtney (16:32.631)
Yes.
Courtney (16:38.669)
Yes.
Tim (16:54.088)
And I look forward to being able to try this brewery in the summertime because they do have a patio outside which we have not been able to use.
Courtney (17:01.165)
Nope, I didn't even know it was out there. You pulled up some pictures and I was like,
Tim (17:03.852)
Yeah, it's, it's been so cold here and no one's sitting out on a patio. And so, we have not used that, but it does look like a very cool patio in the photo. So we're looking forward to getting back there this summer and giving it a try.
Courtney (17:17.164)
Absolutely.
Tim (17:19.054)
Yeah, this brewery is very well designed on the inside. got the whole wall on the left when you go in, it's got their kind of says wandering leaf with kind of a leaf motif painting all the way down the wall. They got the plants in there, the greenery. I think there was a few pinball machines, right? As I, to the right, as you go in. Yeah. And I didn't play any of them, but I do remember them being there. It's a comfortable.
Courtney (17:38.849)
Yeah, there are. Yeah. Like a little game room.
Tim (17:45.678)
comfortable place to be. That plus the friendliness of the staff was just off the charts comfortable. So yeah, besides the beer I'm drinking tonight, the Feral Female, which is an English porter, did over the couple of times I've been there trying many other beers. They have a wide range of styles there. This brewery does not focus on like, Hey, let's make six IPAs or let's make five ales. I mean, they, really have a wide range of beers.
Courtney (17:50.701)
Yes.
Courtney (18:03.469)
They do.
Courtney (18:14.029)
They might not even have two styles that are the same.
Tim (18:16.43)
Yes, they do have a lot. And that's what I said earlier, when you brought me the beers from the brewery in the cans, I was like, I don't even recognize some of these. mean, it's just such a long list, but that's pretty cool. I tried some different things. I tried a cream ale called participation trophy. I tried a fruit and sour called gaslight gatekeep grapefruit, which I, I'm not a grapefruit fan. Not particularly a big sour drinker either, but I did like this beer.
Courtney (18:24.217)
Yeah.
Courtney (18:45.475)
I remember that one, it was good.
Tim (18:46.902)
It was good. had a great flavor to it. I did try one called Forest Floor, which is a Cascadian dark ale slash IPA. At least that's what they call it. Again, loved it. In the dark of the night, a coffee stout.
Courtney (19:03.011)
think I had that either.
Tim (19:04.174)
Yeah, you might've missed that one. Again, not a huge coffee drinker, but this one wasn't, I didn't think it was heavy coffee. I do like some coffee flavor in a beer. I had a sour called Hot Girl Summer.
Courtney (19:18.681)
Ha!
Tim (19:20.802)
That one was delicious. I loved it a lot. I had a triple New England hazy IPA called Creeping Lotus. Yeah, triple, yeah, right. And one last one, an American Amber called Access Denied. And I don't have anything negative to say about any of these beers. They were all drinkable. They were all flavorful. They were all presented nicely. Some of them had great colors, like you said, the beet one.
Courtney (19:30.307)
triple.
Courtney (19:44.579)
Yeah.
Tim (19:53.249)
So they just, they were, I think they work hard at this brewery to have a wide range of styles and colors and just present presentation of beer. Yeah. Do you want to, do you want to say anything else about like the ones you tried?
Courtney (20:01.805)
Yes.
Courtney (20:08.279)
I think the other standouts for me were two that I had just the other day when I was there to be the beer fairy. There was a dark and steamy, that was a golden ale that had some hints of ginger to it. It was delicious. And then I also did, they did a super Lao Kee that was a rice lager that's a collaboration with the restaurant that's next door to them.
Tim (20:18.871)
Yeah.
Tim (20:23.117)
OK.
Tim (20:33.058)
yeah, they do have a, from what I hear, didn't ha I haven't had the food yet. My son and his girlfriend did try some food from there and they loved it. when I hear it, a great little restaurant next door.
Courtney (20:41.048)
Yeah.
So they did a collaboration beer and that one was just light, refreshing, little bit of coconut, but not like heavy coconut. It was just right.
Tim (20:54.542)
Perfect. I love it. So, I mean, so far this place is hitting on all cylinders, right? Comfortable, cozy. The plants set them apart from everybody else because no one else has that many plants in a brewery. It's great in the wintertime, like I said, because of that. It's so great in the wintertime to go there. It's like you're sitting in the conservatory of a Como Zoo.
Courtney (21:03.709)
yeah.
Courtney (21:11.574)
No.
Tim (21:22.318)
You know, if you know, if you've been in there, kind of feels like you're in there. It's not quite as hot. I don't think not as tropical, but, uh, but a very comfortable place to be. And the people are nice. And they, every time the two times that I've been there, there's been lots of dogs in there. So very dog friendly, um, not just on the patio, but inside the brewery itself, which I just love. We brought our dog there. In fact,
Courtney (21:22.839)
Yes.
Courtney (21:27.298)
No.
Courtney (21:40.557)
Yes, very dog friendly.
Tim (21:52.215)
on the second visit.
Courtney (21:55.053)
I think though the one thing that we could come up with that would even potentially be a negative. They have flights. You can get a flight. They don't really have a flight holder. They have like a circular tray that they put them on. Yeah, a serving tray, which is fine. It's totally great. I'm glad they've got something to put them on. So I'm not trying to like carry four little flight classes, but...
Tim (22:00.554)
Okay, they do. Yep.
Tim (22:08.482)
Yeah, just a regular serving tray. Yeah. It works. Yeah. Yep. Right.
Courtney (22:21.399)
I feel like they have such an opportunity to make a really cool flight holder that's like leaf shaped or something like thematic with all their plants that would be super cool.
Tim (22:29.626)
I would agree. They have done such a great job with the theming with all of the plants and the design of the place that adding a flight holder in the, in the shape of some leaf from whatever plant they want to use, would be, I think a step in the right direction. It could be a beer themed plant like hops or something like that, or they could just use a plant that they have in the, in the brewery. Yeah.
Courtney (22:43.341)
Yes.
Courtney (22:48.439)
It could be amazing.
Courtney (22:57.518)
Yeah.
Tim (22:59.82)
I think that wouldn't be a big step in the right direction. They, but like I said, the tray works, but yeah, but could be, but yeah, but could be improved. Yeah. yeah. So many great things to say about this place. Let's get onto one of the most important parts of our podcast, which is the bathroom review.
Courtney (23:05.261)
The tray works. I'm happy with the tray. Thank you for the tray.
Courtney (23:17.985)
yeah. I feel like we need a certain theme music to come in for the bathroom review.
Tim (23:24.726)
Yeah, maybe we should come up with something that's a great theme music for bathroom review time. that would be something that would be something we could think about, but we don't have that right now. So we're just going to jump right into the bathroom review. I thought that their bathrooms are great. I don't know if you used them. I assume you did. they have like individual bathrooms, so they're non-gender specific. Just one person at a time goes into each one. I think there were three.
Courtney (23:29.61)
Hahaha!
Courtney (23:42.541)
Yes. yeah.
Tim (23:53.902)
Was there three or four? There's at least three, maybe four. Yeah, I think it was three. Well appointed bathrooms, nicely done, plenty of room in there. And you didn't have to touch anything after you were done doing your business. You could wash your hands and get out of the room without touching anything because they have paper towels, which you can use to get out of the room.
Courtney (23:56.665)
There's at least three, yeah.
Courtney (24:17.911)
right by the door.
Tim (24:18.798)
Yeah, right by the door, the trash cans right by the door was all set up very well. And so I was super happy. Let's see, have I been rating these one out of 10? I think so. I mean, I would have to give them a, I'll give them a 10 in their bathrooms. I really thought they were great. Yep.
Courtney (24:29.657)
Okay, we need a theme song and we need a formal rating system.
Courtney (24:40.611)
They were, I've used their bathrooms every time I went there, sometimes more than once. They were always just super clean.
Tim (24:48.374)
Yeah, they are clean. Yes. Which is a great hallmark of a brewery bathroom. Yep. Yeah. so yeah, so we've talked about what we love about the place. one thing they could improve with the holder of their flights and their wonderful bathrooms and they welcome dogs. what are some other things? I think one of the other things that you wanted to talk about, because you went and picked up all these nice beers for us.
Courtney (24:53.389)
Yes, I appreciate clean.
Courtney (25:17.177)
Yeah.
Tim (25:17.612)
was the CAN art.
Courtney (25:20.665)
Their can art is gorgeous.
Tim (25:22.382)
I'm looking at this feral female one right in front of me. It's a little scary because it looks like a skeleton of a demon dog.
Courtney (25:30.169)
haha
Tim (25:32.372)
So, but it's got these great purple colors and buildings in the background. And you know, it's, it's really a nice looking, can and all the ones that you brought me all had great designs on them.
Courtney (25:46.883)
They were all beautiful. They're like little mini works of art. And I don't think we ever looked at any, we didn't get cans to go before. So we weren't really looking at any kind of can art and they, their taps don't have any artwork on them.
Tim (25:50.446)
Yeah.
Tim (25:55.618)
No.
Tim (26:00.087)
Right.
Right. didn't. Yeah. Like sometimes when you go to a brewery or a tap room, have like each each beer has its own tap design or even if each of the taps is very similar, they'll have a spot where they can like have a little logo of that beer on it. They've done none of that at Wandering Leaf, which is just fine. This is the way they decided to do it. They literally just have a line of taps on the wall behind the bar and like by each tap is just like written on the wall and magic marker.
Courtney (26:09.688)
Yeah.
Courtney (26:30.199)
Hahaha!
Tim (26:30.83)
Like this is the beer that's in this tap, right? Which obviously makes it super easy to switch them out, right? You need to switch out a beer. If you get to use this tap line for something else, you flush it out. You just erase it and write a different beer on the wall. No changing of a tap handle and all that hassle. So I can see why they would do it that way. It's probably pretty easy, but then it did surprise me when their can art is so great. I mean, they put up so much effort into the can art. Yeah. They got, mean,
Courtney (26:43.438)
Yeah.
Courtney (26:56.419)
Like it's gorgeous, it should be on the wall.
Tim (27:00.556)
Why aren't they using these designs in other places with their beer? I think they should. Yeah. I think that would be very, very good. Well, I think we're just about coming to the end of this one, except for, I see one more thing on our list. We haven't talked to, they do have some other non-alcoholic choices, which is always a great thing.
Courtney (27:06.711)
Yeah, very impressed with the can art.
Courtney (27:24.003)
They do. Yeah. They've got some non-alcoholic beer, kombucha, carbonated tea and soda, and they do have THC drinks.
Tim (27:33.102)
And like most breweries, I see below that on our list, they do do a lot of events. We haven't been there. Neither of the times I've been there has an event been going on. but they,
Courtney (27:48.057)
There was trivia starting when I left on Tuesday.
Tim (27:50.83)
And they have other things, crafting events, makers markets. They do a lot of different things there. So yeah, wonderful. They're trying to support their community by having local artists in and doing different things. So all props to Wandering Leaf Brewing. Yeah. So if you get a chance to visit Wandering Leaf, you should. It's one of the ones we would highly recommend.
Courtney (28:11.448)
Absolutely.
Tim (28:19.5)
visiting here in the Twin Cities.
Courtney (28:21.645)
I wish they were on the west side of the metro and not the east side of the metro. Because I'd be there all the time.
Tim (28:24.558)
I agree. It's, we have so many breweries to choose from here in the twin cities Metro that it's hard to drive by five of them to go to another one. but sometimes it's worth it. Yeah. And this one, this one is, this one is worth it to drive across town. both live in the Western suburbs. So it's, it's St. Paul, if you don't know many others in St. Paul, St. Paul is the Eastern of the two cities.
Courtney (28:35.949)
Yes.
Absolutely worth it.
Tim (28:50.092)
And it's so it's a little East for us to go, but it is just the other side of the airport from us. So it's really not that far. Yeah. Well, thanks so much for joining us for another episode of the brewery adventure. Courtney and I are so excited to be continuing to be able to bring these cool breweries to your attention. And so you can join us next time. And let's see, do we decide what we're going to be talking about on the next episode?
Courtney (28:56.537)
It's not bad.
Courtney (29:19.853)
I think we had some options floating around, but I don't think we actually picked one.
Tim (29:24.126)
I think so. So we're going to leave this one a mystery for now because we have a lot of breweries to visit and then make a decision. More research is necessary. Yeah. So join us next time on the brewery adventure. If you want to contact either Courtney or I, you can do that at thebreweryadventure.com, which is our website. And you can see there a contact form to do that, or you can go to Tim at thebreweryadventure.com or Courtney at thebreweryadventure.com.
Courtney (29:27.544)
Yeah.
Courtney (29:31.14)
Hahaha!
Courtney (29:35.213)
More research.
Tim (29:54.018)
Where else can you find us Courtney?
Courtney (29:54.051)
We would love to hear from you. You can find us on Instagram at The Brewery Adventure. You can find us on YouTube. You can find us, I don't know where else.
Tim (29:58.156)
Yeah. Yep.
Tim (30:06.188)
I think you're coming close to hitting the end of the list. You can also find us on untapped if you want to search for us. But it be harder to find us there, but that's where we rate all of our beers and we give an honest rating to every single beer. Yeah. So anyway, join us next time on the Brewery Adventure. So until then.
Courtney (30:13.389)
How dare I forget that?
Courtney (30:22.307)
I do, I do!
Courtney (30:32.377)
Cheers everybody!
Tim (30:33.656)
Cheers to everyone, bye.
Tim (30:40.014)
We're gonna hit.
